The simple answer is that "it depends"....
First... this question should have been better put in the Online and Video Games category.
Second... While it is true that many high-tech companies (including electronic game companies) will give more preference to those holding degrees, many employers will take into account practical hands-one experience.
Your chances of landing the job you want (at Blizzard or any other company) will be better if you can contact "the person who has the power to actually hire you " (and NOT human resources) and convince them that you can get the job done.
Again--all this depends on your ability to do the job; and if you have acquired the skills and/or skills sets they're looking for (GED notwithstanding).
